Nestled high in the Bavarian
Alps is the village of Oberammergau. This village is a favorite destination for those seeking respite and rejuvenation. But every ten years, it achieves mystical
proportions.
It began in 1632, when a woodcaver brought plague home. Within a year, the plague had taken nearly a quarter of Oberammergau's inhabitants, and the town vowed to perform a Passion Play every ten years if God would spare them from the plague. In 2010, the village will perform the play for the 41st time, and we invite you to experience the mystical power of this world-famous event with us.
The play re-enacts the Passion of Christ - from Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem to the crucifixion and
resurrection. Performances take place in the
afternoon and evening, with an included dinner break in between. Over 2,000 actors, singers, musicians, and technicians participate in the play, with rehearsals starting at least one year before the event.
Suzi Davis Travel has created the two amazing
itinerates above which include the Oberammergau Passion Play. Please select the tour you wish to get more details on. We recommend that you book very early as tickets to the event are extremely limited.
